Keenum’s tenure will likely be short lived with the Broncos.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Broncos will begin shopping quarterback Case Keenum after agreeing in principle for a trade for Ravens quarterback, Joe Flacco.
The #Broncos will now shop QB Case Keenum, who is guaranteed $7M in 2019, I’m told. If they can’t, it’s either a massive paycut or a straight up release. He’d be a top backup.

With Flacco already being named the starter(unofficially of course), the Broncos will do their best to move on from Case Keenum ideally via a trade.
One team to keep an eye on is the New York Giants. Keenum had his best season under Pat Shurmur and they could decide to move on from Eli Manning this offseason before selecting a quarterback with their 6th overall pick.
With that said, it appears the Giants will stick with Eli for one more year and have a rookie develop under him.
Another team to watch is the Arizona Cardinals according to Benjamin Allbright. Their Head Coach, Kliff Kingsbury was Keenum’s OC/QB coach during his college days at Houston and the Cardinals need a trustworthy backup/mentor behind second-year quarterback, Josh Rosen.
The idea would be to bring Keenum in and extend him with a lower salary cap number as a long term backup.

Kingsbury was Keenum's QB coach and co-OC at university of Houston. https://t.co/WvASFXsI2Z
I’d expect something to get done eventually. The free agent quarterback market isn’t great, and the opinions on the quarterback prospects are mixed. There will be some team desperate to find a stop gap starter or a veteran/reliable veteran at the quarterback position.
The compensation would likely be low since Keenum isn’t great and brings a somewhat hefty price tag with him. A day 3 selection or a potential player/contract swap could happen as well.
If they can’t find a trade partner for Keenum, I believe they will eat the dead money and release him outright. I don’t personally believe it will come to that however.
