James Palmer of NFL Network is reporting that the Texans are expected to release Demaryius Thomas:
The #Texans are expected to release WR Demaryius Thomas today per source. Thomas tore his left Achilles in Week 16. It’s too early for a time table, but he’s returned from the injury quickly in the past. He tore his right Achilles after his rookie season and came back in 6 months

As Palmer mentioned there, Thomas tore his Achillies in week 16. That is a tough injury to come back from especially for a guy that is 31 years old.
The Texans traded for Thomas right before the NFL trade deadline last year. They sent a 4th round pick to the Broncos and swapped 7th round picks. Thomas didn’t do much after the Texas required him with the exception of the the game against the Titans where he had 5 catches for 38 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The Texans probably lost this trade, but I don’t think they made a bad decision to do it. They had a need and they made a move to try and make their team better. It is impossible to predict a guy getting injured. That is just a part of football.
I assume the wait for Thomas will be pretty long considering teams will want to see him healthy before they are willing to offer him a contract.
