Super Bowl LIII Discussion: New England Patriots vs Los Angeles Rams

The season ends tonight, folks

Well, this is it, folks. In just a few hours, the 2018-19 NFL season will be completely over and done with. There’s still one more game to go, however, and it’s the biggest one of them all.

Live from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, it’s Super Bowl LIII, featuring the New England Patriots, champions of the AFC, taking on the NFC Champions, the Los Angeles Rams.

Both of these teams have played two playoff games thus far, with each winning their first game at home before going on the road to win their second game. For New England, they got started by blowing out the Los Angeles Chargers by a score of 41-28, and then going into Arrowhead Stadium to knock off the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime, 37-31. For the Rams, they defeated the Dallas Cowboys in the Divisional round by a final tally of 30-22, and then went to New Orleans, where they thoroughly outplayed the Saints en route to a completely legitimate 26-23 overtime victory.

This is the ninth Super Bowl for the Patriots in the era of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, and the third year in a row they’ve represented the AFC in the final game. On the other hand, the Rams are making their first appearance in the big game since February of 2002, when they played. . .the New England Patriots. The Patriots won that one in the game that really kickstarted their era of dominance, defeating the Greatest Show on Turf by a final score of 20-17.

We are less than half an hour from kickoff in Atlanta, folks. Consider this your Open Thread for today’s festivities, and enjoy the game as much as you can enjoy any football game that doesn’t involve the Minnesota Vikings.
