How the NFL franchise tag window opening could impact Nick Foles and the Philadelphia Eagles - BGN
Will the Eagles use the tag on Nick Foles? Foles is currently set to be a free agent since he quickly voided his 2019 contract option after the Eagles picked it up. Multiple reports indicate the Eagles plan to use the tag on Foles in order to trade him. Earlier this month, NFL insider Adam Schefter said “the Eagles ARE expected to use their franchise tag on him and they ARE expected to try to trade him so they can help dictate where he winds up.” NFL insider Jason La Canfora also recently wrote that “smart people I talk to around the league think the Eagles apply the tag” to Foles.

Projecting what the Eagles’ free agents will make in free agency, and their compensatory pick values - PhillyVoice
Ronald Darby will be an interesting player to watch in free agency this offseason. He is already clearly an NFL starter, with upside to be a really good one, as he is gifted athletically, but has yet to completely put it all together as a pro. Add in a torn ACL, and there’s even more projection. Still, in a bad cornerback class this year, he is arguably one of the top three corners available, and those guys usually get paid.
Eagles Have Colorful History Using Franchise Tag - PE.com
The Eagles have a decision to make, starting today, as the NFL’s period for teams applying the franchise tag to players begins. The Eagles, of course, have huge decisions to make, including one on quarterback Nick Foles, scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent on March 13 at 4 p.m. Will the Eagles use the franchise tag on Foles, as many reports have indicated that they will? We’ll see about that. The Eagles have said nothing publicly about their plans. If history is any indication, well, there really is no way to predict how it’s all going to turn out. It’s a cliffhanger, and we’re along for the ride. And the truth is, if the Eagles use the franchise tag, the ending the story could turn out to just as unpredictable, anyway. Five times the Eagles have used the franchise tag since 1993 – as well as one use of the transition tag – and a review of the cases show how varied the outcomes can be.
The top 50 NFL free agents of 2019 - The Athletic
21. Brandon Graham (31), DE, Eagles – He was coming off a high ankle sprain at the start of last season and took a while to get going, finishing the year with four sacks and 11 QB hits. Graham is a well-rounded 4-3 defensive end who can win one-on-one against offensive tackles and be disruptive against the run. His 25 tackles for loss on run plays over the last three seasons are tied for second behind only Clowney. Graham has had a very good career in Philadelphia and was a Super Bowl hero, but he’s eclipsed 6.5 sacks just once in his nine-year career. The guess here is that the Eagles will wait for him to test the market and then see if they can bring him back.
10 immediate impact free agents - PFF
Brandon Graham, Edge defender: There are few pass rushers in the NFL who have been as consistent and as healthy as Graham over the past four seasons. Over that span, he’s averaged 758 snaps and 68 pressures per season. That average would have ranked 24th in snaps and fourth in pressures last season alone. There’s also reason to believe the soon-to-be 31-year-old can keep it going. He’s been one of the best bull-rushers in the NFL in recent seasons, and he relies far more on strength than explosiveness.
NFL experts predict: Answering 2019 offseason’s biggest questions - ESPN In$ider
Which 2018 rookie will make the biggest jump in Year 2? Kevin Seifert, national NFL writer: Dallas Goedert, TE, Eagles. Maximizing Goedert in an offense largely centered around tight end Zach Ertz proved more difficult than the Eagles probably anticipated. Still, Goedert finished his rookie season with 33 receptions, including 12 in his final four games, and the Eagles now have an entire offseason to find more ways to get him the ball.
Jets won’t pick up Terrence Brooks option - PFT
After two seasons with the Jets, safety and special teamer Terrence Brooks will become a free agent. A league source tells PFT that the Jets have informed Brooks they won’t pick up his option for 2019. He will become a free agent on March 13. [BLG Note: former Eagles safety.]

To Return or Not to Return - Football Outsiders
I think it is important for all teams to seriously consider whether they should be returning kickoffs out of the end zone. With both the chance of getting to the 26-yard line as low as it is and the average return failing to reach the 25, it would be better to take a knee and start drives as near to the opponent’s goal line as possible. If I was a special teams coordinator, I would want to reach the 26-yard line at least 75 percent of the time, the 35-yard line 25 percent of the time, and midfield 5 percent of the time before I considered taking the ball out of the end zone. None of the 32 NFL teams hit all three of those targets, although each was met by at least one team.
