During the 11 games Wentz played, the defense allowed 23.3 points per game. During the seven games Foles started, the defense allowed 18.1 points per game.

The question for the 2019 NFL Draft is, where is the line between the impact players, and the dropoff? While the 2019 NFL Draft is thought to be a very deep and talented one, especially at a major position of need (the defensive line), my sense is that Roseman will still want to get up into the teens from the Eagles’ spot at pick No. 25. The disastrous 2014 draft in which Eagles targets flew off the board before the Birds eventually settled on trading back and drafting Marcus Smith no doubt was a lesson learned for Roseman. Unlike last year, Roseman will have the ammo to move up, as the Eagles are projected to have nine picks in the 2019 NFL Draft, and likely to have a bunch of extra compensatory picks in 2020 as well. I expect the Eagles to be aggressive on Day 1 of the draft.

One thing Roseman must do is find speed for the offense. Wentz has good targets in Jeffery, Nelson Agholor, Zach Ertz, and Dallas Goedert. Wentz needs speedy playmakers, preferably at receiver and running back. The offense didn’t get enough chunk plays in 2018. That needs to change. I tend to think Roseman would like to add speedsters in the draft so the players could be here for several years and grow with Wentz. That’s just a guess, though. If Roseman sees the right veterans available, he could easily go for one or two of them. He knows the offensive weapons weren’t good enough in 2018.

The terrible quarterback play in Jacksonville has to come to an end. The Jags have committed malpractice at the position for nearly two years, and that’s being generous. Foles, Bridgewater and Flacco make up the three top-tier free-agentish quarterbacks this spring and any of the three would work in Jacksonville, but I’ll focus on Foles. The Jags hired John DeFilippo as their offensive coordinator this offseason after he was fired in Minnesota. But that came after two years as the Eagles quarterback coach where he helped unlock Foles on the way to Super Bowl LII. That marriage makes sense for a needy Jags team that really shouldn’t wait for the draft. Jacksonville picks seventh this year with the Giants one spot ahead and at least one other team sure to leap ahead and get into the top-five.

Jeff Fisher, the former Rams and Titans head coach who is the league’s head of football strategy, said Vick is instead taking on a role in the league’s administrative body. ”It was an unusual set of circumstances in that Mike had accepted a role with Brad Childress early on as an offensive coach, as an offensive coordinator,” Fisher said. “And then with Brad’s sudden departure, things, they kind of just, they got hard.
