What are the Cardinals going to do with the No. 1 overall pick?

11 personnel types discussed the options with ESPN.

The Cardinals hold the keys to the kingdom for the time being. Arizona is picking No. 1 overall and they have a host of options to consider. Ohio State edge rusher Nick Bosa is viewed by many as the best prospect available. On the other hand, Quinnen Williams is climbing media and fan draft boards, and some think Bosa is not necessarily the best fit for Arizona’s changing defensive scheme. And of course, they also could trade the pick away to a team looking to draft a quarterback, or one of the non-QB prospects.

The 49ers are left to watch and wonder what the Cardinals will have in mind. Quarterbacks Dwayne Haskins and Kyler Murray are two wild cards for now. If a team decides they can’t live without one of them, they could convince themselves they need to move up to one of the top handful of picks to ensure they get the quarterback. The first three teams in the 2019 NFL Draft (Cardinals, 49ers, Jets) are not picking quarterbacks. After that, nothing is certain. The Raiders probably will not spend the No. 4 pick on a quarterback, but all it takes is one other team thinking it might happen to convince them to deal up into the top three.

My guess is in the end the Cardinals do not trade down. I can’t say for certain if Bosa or Williams ends up the pick for them, but I feel pretty comfortable saying it will be one of those two. They could surprise us, but those seem like the most likely results when April 25th arrives.

ESPN’s Nick Wagoner chatted with 11 scouts and other personnel types around the NFL to get a handle on what league insiders think the Cardinals will do with the pick. Most believed if a trade was possible, the Cardinals would do that so they could add draft picks, but most also did not think a deal would ultimately get done. Three people predicted a deal would happen and the Cardinals would move out of the No. 1 pick. Six people predicted they would end up drafting Bosa, and the final two thought Williams would be the pick.

What do you expect to happen when the No. 1 pick is on the clock?
