Here’s what happened around the AAF in Week 4.
The fourth week of the AAF season is in the books, and history was made.
Memphis 26, San Diego 23
It started out Saturday afternoon as the Zach Mettenberger-led Memphis Express won the first game in franchise history with a 26-23 win over the San Diego Fleet.
In his first start of the season, Mettenberger went 18-25 with 174 yards and a touchdown with no turnovers. He also added a rushing touchdown.
Former Texans fan favorite Charles James II recorded a tackle for Memphis.
Orlando 20, Salt Lake 11
Akeem Hunt had his best game as an Apollo in Orlando’s 20-11 win over Salt Lake.
In the snowy weather, Hunt ran for 35 yards on eight carries and found the end zone once. He also had one catch for 19 yards.
Garrett Gilbert continued to make his case for league MVP. He leads the league in passing yards and threw for 244 yards and a TD in the snow.
Orlando is the only team still undefeated in the AAF.
San Antonio 12, Birmingham 11
In a game that featured little offense, the Commanders squeaked out a victory in Alabama on Sunday.
Kenneth Farrow dominated the ground game with 30 carries for 142 yards.
Former University of Houston QB Greg Ward, Jr. lined up at receiver and led all Commanders with 24 receiving yards.
Former Texans DB Kurtis Drummond recorded three tackles in the win.
Atlanta 14, Arizona 11
The Legends became the final team to place a tally in the win column on Sunday with a win over the Arizona Hotshots.
Former Texans DB Rahim Moore logged three tackles in the loss.
Former Chargers kicker Younghoe Koo knocked down a 33 yarder with 1:07 left to seal the first win in franchise history for the Legends.
