AAF Week 7: Orlando cliches playoff spot, Johnny Manziel debuts for Memphis

What happened in Week 7 of the AAF season?

Orlando 36, Atlanta 6

Orlando became the first team to clinch a playoff spot with a thrashing of Atlanta on the road.

Former Texans RB Akeem Hunt added 53 yards on offense and former Texas Longhorns QB Garrett Gilbert threw for a touchdown and 217 yards.

San Antonio 19, Salt Lake 15

Texas’ hometown team remains atop the West with their win Saturday night.

The teams entered the fourth quarter tied at 9, and both teams answered with touchdowns.

Salt Lake tied with a touchdown but their two-point conversion was intercepted by San Antonio and returned to the house by De’Vante Bausby to seal the win.

Arizona 32, San Diego 15

Arizona pulled out a crucial win against division rival San Diego Sunday afternoon. The win put Arizona ahead by a game in second place in the West over San Diego.

QB John Wolford starred for the Hotshots with three touchdowns: two passing and one rushing.

San Diego ran a formidable rushing attack headlined by former Titans RB Bishop Sankey with 54 yards, but it was not enough to conquer Arizona.

Memphis 31, Birmingham 25 (OT)

Johnny Manziel debuted as the Express came from behind to defeat the Iron at home in overtime Sunday evening.

Manziel threw just 3/5 with 48 yards but was also the team’s leading rusher with two carries for 20 yards.

Starting QB Brandon Silvers played well, throwing for 266 yards and a pair of touchdowns with no picks.
