49ers potential NFL free agent target: Justin Houston | Niners Nation
The 30-year-old veteran played in 12 games last season, totaling 37 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 12 quarterback hits, nine sacks and five forced fumbles. Houston earned an overall grade of 85.7 from Pro Football Focus. His 14.2% pressure rate ranked ninth and his 20.3% pass-rush win rate ranked third among edge defenders. Houston would offer the 49ers a credible threat coming off the edge of their crowded defensive front.
With the 49ers primed to land a young pass rusher in the draft, signing Houston to a one- or two-year deal would pay dividends both in short-term production and long-term development.

It’s tough to get targets in a Chiefs offense loaded with playmakers, which is why Harris had just 12 catches last season as the backup to Travis Kelce. But at 27, he might be worth a look for teams in need of an athletic tight end. He had three touchdowns on his 12 catches.
Landon Collins Rumors: Redskins, Cowboys, Colts, Chiefs Could Pursue Star Safety | Bleacher Report
The New York Giants did not give safety Landon Collins the franchise tag, and a number of teams are reportedly interested in the 25-year-old Alabama product as a result.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs and Washington are among those who could pursue Collins this offseason. He pointed out Washington’s interest may be predicated on it not re-signing Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, while Kansas City’s would be based on whether it made a move with Eric Berry.
Q: Chiefs 2019-2020, what’s your prediction?
A: Oh my God (laughs). My prediction is that I will be at a lot of games. Look, man, I start every Chiefs football season off the exact same way for the last 35 years, which is freaking stoked and excited, like, “We’re going to the Super Bowl this year.” The only difference now is that I feel like I’m justified feeling that way. That’s what’s new. It’s like thinking you’ve tasted the best food of your life and then all of sudden somebody has taken you to a whole other level of restaurant and thinking like what in the heck have I been eating all these years?
Mahomes is the real deal and obviously a gifted athlete and appears to be a gifted human being, which is what you know Kansas City needs.

As the start of free agency looms next week, the Bills could certainly use help with their pass rush, and on Saturday, ESPN’s Dan Graziano speculated that he “wouldn’t be shocked if they moved one of their edge guys and also brought in a new one, like Dee Ford or someone like that.”
It’s interesting to hear Graziano link the Bills with Ford, a premier pass rusher from the league’s best pass-rushing unit in 2018, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden:
Gruden replaced Amari Cooper and two mid-round picks with Antonio Brown and a first-rounder. That’s a ridiculous upgrade. Cooper is younger, but he’s never been close to the same level of player Brown still was in 2018. Mayock, the new Raiders general manager, is paying Brown over the next three years roughly what the Chiefs are paying Sammy Watkins. That’s another win.

Kansas City Chiefs: Secondary
At safety, the Chiefs have attempted to squeeze by with subpar players next to and in place of Eric Berry, who can’t be relied on himself at this point considering his injury history. Everyone except for Fuller should be in question.
In turn, the Chiefs should look to take defensive backs at any point during the draft. Texas’ Kris Boyd, Temple’s Rock Ya-Sin and Washburn’s Corey Ballentine are realistic Day 2 options for new defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s aggressive press-man defense. A late-round gamble on Central Michigan’s Sean Bunting could also pay off for the Chiefs.

The veteran wide receiver was released by the Miami Dolphins on Friday, making him an unrestricted free agent. Given his history in New England, and the strong on-field chemistry he had with quarterback Tom Brady, it would make sense for New England to pursue Amendola.
The Atheltic’s Jeff Howe tweeted Friday that the 33-year-old wideout would be interested in a return to the Pats.
Brown dealt to Raiders; agent says it’s ‘great fit’ | ESPN
Agent Drew Rosenhaus said in an appearance on ESPN’s SportsCenter on Sunday morning that the Raiders were “a great fit” for his client.
“Jon Gruden, I believe, is a future Hall of Fame coach and one of the great offensive minds in football, and the Raiders have a fantastic franchise quarterback in Derek Carr, they have a great tradition, great fan base, moving to Las Vegas,” he said.
Cam Newton working out after shoulder surgery | NFL
The Carolina Panthers quarterback, who underwent an arthroscopic procedure on his right shoulder back in January, posted photos of himself on Instagram working out. The team subsequently posted the photos on its official Twitter account.
It’s unknown whether this is the first workout post surgery for Newton, but it is the first time he’s taken to social media to alert the masses about it.

In the regular season, opposing quarterbacks had a 61.2 completion percentage against the Patriots, which was the second-lowest mark in the league. New England also surrendered the fifth-fewest yards per pass attempt (6.9) in the league.
Sources: Raiders to trade G Osemele to Jets | ESPN
The New York Jets want to upgrade their offensive line, and they got an early start Sunday by agreeing in principle to acquire left guard Kelechi Osemele in a trade with the Oakland Raiders, sources told ESPN’s Josina Anderson and Adam Schefter.
Osemele, who made the Pro Bowl for the Raiders in 2016 and 2017, is expected to replace James Carpenter, a four-year starter for the Jets and pending free agent.
Dwayne Allen joins Dolphins on two-year, $7M deal | NFL
Dwayne Allen is reuniting with Brian Flores in South Florida.
The Miami Dolphins signed the former New England Patriots tight end to a two-year, $7 million deal, a source told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport on Saturday. The team later confirmed the signing.
Allen was released by the Patriots on Monday after spending two seasons with the club. Before joining Miami, the tight end had received interest from the Baltimore Ravens, Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks.

The Chiefs have released Justin Houston
Houston still had two years left on his contract with the Chiefs, but the fact that he held the largest 2019 cap number on the team made him expendable (OverTheCap). The number was so high that it also made Houston untradeable.
As a result of Houston’s release, the Chiefs save $14 million worth of cap space in 2019.
Antonio Brown has been traded to the Oakland Raiders
We first speculated that Brown could potentially land with the Raiders back on March 4. Based on various reports, the Raiders maintained interest throughout the past few weeks and were the odds-on favorites all along.
Now, Brown will face the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes twice a year.
Update: Chiefs sign Carlos Hyde to one-year deal worth $2.8 million
Hyde is a veteran who has been both a starter and backup before, and he has two 900-plus-yards seasons under his belt (2016 and 2017).
Hyde entered the league with the San Francisco 49ers as a second-round pick back in the 2014 NFL Draft. Hyde signed a three-year deal with the Cleveland Browns, but they traded him for a fifth-round pick to Jacksonville after just six games. Hyde was part of Jacksonville’s cuts Friday, presumably to make room for the signing of quarterback Nick Foles when the league year starts next week.
Chiefs officially submit proposal to change overtime rules, also want review of personal fouls
Likely stemming from the result of the AFC title game, in which the Kansas City Chiefs never touched the football in overtime en route to their 37-31, the organization submitted the following:
By Kansas City; to amend Rule 16 to (1) allow both teams the opportunity to possess the ball at least one time in overtime, even if the first team to possess the ball in overtime scores a touchdown; (2) eliminate overtime for preseason; and (3) eliminate overtime coin toss so that winner of initial coin toss to begin game may choose whether to kick or receive, or which goal to defend.
