Bengals News (3/14): Preston Brown gets to stay home

Preston Brown grew up rooting for the Bengals, and now he gets to try and turn their new era into a successful one.

Brown Comes Home for Comeback
No doubt coordinator Lou Anarumo has more on his plate than that as he re-tools the linebackers corps. With the status of some of the backers up in the air as the staff puts together primarily a 4-3 scheme, it’s a big box that had to be checked. Similar things were at play on the other side of the ball in the re-signing of tight end C.J. Uzomah. They’re two young vets, both 26, well regarded among their mates.

Preston Brown Re-Signs With Bengals
Brown joined the Bengals last offseason as an unrestricted free agent, after spending his first four seasons (2014-17) with the Buffalo Bills. In his first year in Cincinnati, he served as the team’s No. 1 MLB and recorded 42 tackles and two INTs, despite being limited by ankle and knee injuries to just seven games (all starts).

Jim Turner, Jimbo Fisher fingerprints on Bengals’ Bobby Hart decision
The move, which should go official over the next few days, was ripped far and wide given Hart’s struggles last year and the sheer amount of money being thrown down on the transaction.

But it is something fans will get excited about — which they need given the team’s lackluster start to free agency. And speculation is bound to run rampant due to the Bengals holding a top-11 pick and boasting plenty of assets to move up.

Darqueze Dennard hangs in balance as new NFL year begins for Cincinnati Bengals

Their most prominent player on the market, cornerback Darqueze Dennard, remains unsigned. Meanwhile, Cincinnati made the contract with Preston Brown official along with Bobby Hart. C.J. Uzomah arrives on Wednesday night to sign his deal. A portion of the pie has already gone in three different directions.

Jaguars release QB Blake Bortles after signing Foles
A starting signal-caller since his rookie season, Bortles' struggles matched the franchise's as Jacksonville was 24-49 in games he started. After a two-month-long standoff with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the receiver finally landed in a new desired locale as the league year began. Teddy Bridgewater visits Dolphins as Saints wait
A return to New Orleans would have Bridgewater continue in a backup role behind Drew Brees, but a potential signing with the Dolphins opens up an immediate opportunity to start given Miami is expected to part ways with Ryan Tannehill.
