Colts Re-Sign Defensive Lineman Margus Hunt

The Indianapolis Colts and starting defensive lineman Margus Hunt have agreed to terms on a two year contract extension, the team announced via Twitter.

The deal is reportedly a two-year, $9 million extension that includes a $1 million more in incentives — sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Hunt appeared in 31 games and started in twenty for the Colts over the last two years, after being signed as a free agent after his time in Cincinnati.

The defensive lineman played a pivotal role in the Colts’ success up front on the defensive side of the ball, as the unit managed 38 sacks and did not allow a 100 yard rusher. Indianapolis also boasted a very much improved defense in 2018-19 finishing 5th in points allowed per game (27.1) and 7th in yards allowed per game (386.2).

Hunt, 31, will enter his seventh season as a pro in 2019. He has 75 career appearances, including 20 career starts. With their defensive lineman locked up, the Colts are set to return at least three members of the starting defensive line next season.
