After moving on from Pro Bowl kicker Jason Myers earlier this week, the New York Jets wasted little time in finding his replacement. The Jets have signed former Jets kicker Chandler Catanzaro. Catanzaro replaces Myers, who replaced Catanzaro on the Jets roster just one year ago. Catanzaro spent last year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers after playing with the Jets in 2017.
Catanzaro converted 83% of his field goal attempts with the Jets in 2017, and made 100% of his extra points. Last year was a bit of a down year for Catanzaro, as he converted on 80% of his field goal attempts, including misses on all three of his attempts between 40 and 49 yards, and he converted on just 86% of his extra point attempts. For his career Catanzaro has converted on 84% of his field goal attempts, including 10 out of 16 from 50 yards and beyond, and he has converted on 93% of his extra point attempts. Catanzaro has one of the stronger legs in the league, an attribute the Jets have coveted during the Mike Maccagnan era.
