More teams drop out of bidding for Antonio Brown on eve of Steelers preferred trade deadline

We are less than 24 hours from the deadline the Steelers placed on interested teams in trading for Antonio Brown. Just yesterday three teams reportedly joined the fray, while two other teams bowed out. Now another has checked out. The Saints are no longer in the running, according to ESPN’s Dianna Russini.

This news came shortly after Jon’s brother also said peace out.

It’s possible New Orleans and Washington were among the three teams that inquired, but the price was too high and they walked right back out. The Steelers are said to be asking for a first round pick, which most teams are unwilling to part with for a 31-year-old receiver who has been making a spectacle out of himself and ranting about how he wants all guaranteed money.

Some rumors have it as a one team race for Antonio Brown, and most seem to assume that team is the Raiders. And if that’s the case, there’s really no reason they should accept the Steelers terms here. They should set the terms — which would hopefully not be the 35th overall pick or higher — and the Steelers can take it or deal with having to pay Brown the $2.5 million bonus he is due on March 17.
