Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles will officially become an unrestricted free agent, according to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Eagles are not tagging QB Nick Foles; he will be allowed to become a free agent and leave Philadelphia.

After the Eagles picked up Foles’ option and Foles decided to pay $2 million back and get our of it, there was a lot of speculation that the Eagles would try to franchise tag the backup quarterback with the intention to trade him. The trade market, at least, seemed to be non-existent for Foles so the Eagles decided against that path. It is unlikely the Jaguars would have been interested in trading for and paying Foles.
Now that Foles will be an unrestricted free agent however, I would expect the Jaguars to have a non-zero sum of interest in the quarterback. It is likely the Jaguars will have a certain price point they don’t want to go past and the good news is it would seem the market for Foles is steadily deflating after teams like the Denver Broncos traded for Joe Flacco and the New York Giants kind of pseudo-committed to Eli Manning in 2019.
