NDSU quarterback Easton Stick ran agility drills like a slot receiver on Saturday.
Kyler Murray didn’t run. That is arguably the biggest storyline of the workouts by the quarterbacks at the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine, but there were still 16 other players at the position who did participate in the Combine, 15 of whom worked out in some fashion on the turf at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Of those players, a few posted some very impressive numbers. Buffalo’s Tyree Jackson led the field in the 40-yard dash with a time of 4.59 seconds, adding a position-best 34 1/2-inch vertical and 10-foot broad jump. A few scramblers put up some good numbers as well, like Mississippi State’s Nick Fitzgerald (4.64 40) and North Dakota State’s Easton Stick (4.62). Stick, meanwhile, blew away the field, with a 6.65-second 3-cone time — the best time of any player on offense at the Combine in that particular drill. He then added a 4.05-second time in the short shuttle.Stick was a highly productive runner for the Bison, but that is still an especially impressive set of agility times.
Missouri’s Drew Lock, a potential top-ten pick, had good agility times as well, though not as good as Stick’s. Still, a 7.03-second time in the cone drill and a 4.12-second shuttle drill are very good numbers for the 6-foot-4, 228-pound Lock. That points to a good ability to navigate a closing pocket, and could help solidify him in the top half of the first round.
Here are the full workout results for the quarterbacks, who finished their workouts on Saturday.
