The Baltimore Ravens have officially placed a second-round tender on inside linebacker Patrick Onwuasor, according to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley:
LB Patrick Onwuasor received a second-round tender by the Ravens. Onwuasor, who enjoyed a breakout year in 2018, is a restricted free agent.

Onwuasor, previously undrafted, is entering his fourth season as a restricted free agent and is now set to make $3.1 million in 2019 due to the second-round tender. As Hensley points out, if a team signs Onwuasor to an offer sheet, the Ravens will have the option to match the offer or receive a second-round pick as compensation.
Ravens LB Patrick Onwuasor will make a projected $3M this season under that second-round tender. If a team signs Onwuasor to an offer sheet, Ravens can either match it or get a second-round pick as compensation.

Onwuasor entered his second season as a starter opposite of C.J. Mosley after a heated competition with rookie Kenny Young last year. Though both players saw a fair amount playing time, Onwuasor really flourished to end the season on a high note.
Onwuasor finished the 2018 season with an impressive 5.5 sacks, 59 total tackles, two forced fumbles, three passes defensed, and an interception. His biggest play came in a crucial game against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15 when he forced a fumble from tight end Antonio Gates. The fumble was returned for a touchdown by cornerback Tavon Young, essentially putting the game away and keeping Baltimore’s playoff hopes alive. Onwuasor turned into a turnover machine late in the season, seemingly making key plays in the biggest of moments.
No word has yet been given as to whether or not defensive tackle Michael Pierce will also receive a second-round tender. It is possible that the Ravens are trying to extend him instead to make sure he remains in Baltimore long term.
