Report: Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence feels “disrespected”

It’s going to be a tough negotiation between the Cowboys and DeMarcus Lawrence.

Things have been a bit contentious between the Dallas Cowboys and DeMarcus Lawrence over the last few months, what with all of the franchise tag talk and what not.

They haven’t been contentious in terms of arguments or anything of that sort, but a long-term deal has not gotten done and that’s a point of contention. Dallas gave him the franchise tag for the second straight year last week, and while the value for it is quite high it’s fair to understand that Lawrence feels ready for a big deal.

Tank has produced for the Cowboys over the last two years, there’s no denying that. According to a report from NFL Network’s Jane Slater he feels “disrespected” by the process that this has all been.

It’s true that the Cowboys could have gotten him for less had they paid him a year ago, but there was fair reason to be skeptical. At that point Lawrence had only “done it” once, had a bit of an injury history, and had been suspended before. Obviously some of that is still true, but he’s been one of the best pass rushers in the NFL over the last two seasons and that means his agent has a lot of negotiating power.

This could run all the way until July, or it could any moment. Get ready for anything.
