Late on the first day of the free agency negotiating period, the Raiders made their second splash and their first big splash on defense, adding safety LaMarcus Joyner on a 4-year deal.
The #Raiders are expected to sign for former #Rams franchise player, safety Lamarcus Joyner, sources say. A free safety that gives them speed in the secondary.

The former second round pick played last season on the franchise tag after a season in which he put up 3 interceptions and 9 passes defended. His coverage numbers came down last season picking off just one pass with 3 passes defended sharing a secondary with newly acquired cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Aquib Talib. But his tackle numbers went up to a career high 78 combined tackles.
Joyner can also play nickel corner, and if the 5-8 DB lines up at safety along with the 5-10 Karl Joseph the Raiders will have one of the shortest safety duos in the league.
They also have the 6-3 Erik Harris adding key depth as well as some much needed size to the secondary.
