The Jacksonville Jaguars are at a crossroads — do they go all in on a quarterback at the top of this year’s NFL Draft or do they sign a 30-year-old stop gap in Nick Foles, allowing a couple more years to build around a rookie quarterback who will come into the league a few years from now?
ESPN’s Todd McShay has his chips placed squarely on the bet that the Jaguars will sign Foles and build around him and for the future guy under center in his 3.0 mock draft, believing the Jaguars will solidify the right side of the offensive line with Florida offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor.
7. Jacksonville Jaguars
Jawaan Taylor, OT, Florida
With Nick Foles expected to come to Florida, the Jags need to beef up the offensive line to protect their new quarterback and create some holes for Leonard Fournette. Taylor’s mobility, power and quickness would be welcomed in the trenches. He is a starting right tackle on Day 1.
Sigh.
I mean, I can’t fault McShay — it certainly looks like the Jaguars have at least a very good chance of signing Foles and if that’s the case they’re not going to spend even more to draft Dwayne Haskins.
What do you think? Are you sold on the Jaguars signing Foles or could they shock everyone and trade up for a higher pick in the first round of this year’s NFL Draft? Let us know in the comments below!
