Yesterday was the deadline for teams to apply the franchise tag in the NFL. Six teams exercised the tag to prevent players from hitting the open market. The Jets were not among those teams, but a number of potential players of interest to the Jets were tagged.

..............
The theme of franchise tag season was clearly edge rusher. It comes as no surprise. Pass rushers are valuable commodities, and teams typically don’t want to let those players get away.
The Jets are still in need of an edge rusher. The good news is there still figure to be some quality players hitting the market who fit that role. They certainly will be expensive. The reduction of supply from this year’s franchise tag class won’t make the price go down.
