The Buccaneers use their fifth round pick on Utah kicker Matt Gay
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers use their fifth round pick on a position that has been a nightmare to try and fill since the departure of Matt Bryant - kicker. To do so, they went to Utah and drafted kicker Matt Gay.
Gay was 100% on extra points and 86.7% on field goals during his two seasons with the Utes.
Here is the draft analysis from NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein;
Surprising omission from the Senior Bowl, Gay is a big boy with an even bigger leg who has the ability to drive both the long field goal and the long kickoff. The former soccer player has an awkward, three-step approach to strike field goals which may require some work to make a roster on the next level.
