The Arizona Cardinals and the NFL announced their preseason schedule today.
While only one game is actually scheduled, dates and times of the other to follow, here is the outline of what their four preseason games will look like.
2019 preseason schedule and it features a nationally-televised home game on ESPN vs. Oakland on Thursday, August 15 at 5:00 PM (MST). Specific dates and times for the other three games are to be determined.
Arizona will open its 14th season at State Farm Stadium in Week 1 of the preseason against the Los Angeles Chargers. It is the second straight year that the Cardinals will begin the preseason with a home game against the Chargers and it marks the 25th preseason meeting between the two teams.
The Cardinals remain at home in Week 2 for the previously mentioned Raiders game on Thursday, August 15 that will air nationally on ESPN. It will be the fourth time in the past five seasons the Cardinals have played the Raiders in the preseason.
Arizona will hit the road for its final two preseason games beginning in Week 3 when they travel to Minnesota to play the Vikings. It will be the Cardinals first preseason game in Minnesota since 2014 and their first preseason visit to U.S. Bank Stadium, which opened in 2016.
The Cardinals wrap up the preseason by traveling to Denver in Week 4 where they will play the Broncos in the preseason finale for the 14th time in the past 16 seasons.
My only complaint, because it is the preseason, is that their one game that matters at home is on a Thursday, which means getting in and out of the stadium on a work night is going to be a disaster.
Other than that, it is the preseason, which the Steve Wilks era reminded us, means nothing.
