College Statistics

Player Overview

Jordan Brown played high school in Scottsdale, AZ, and arrived at South Dakota State as a wide receiver. Then, his freshman year, he played 11 games on defense. Within two years, he was named first team All-Missouri Valley Conference on the strength of 71 tackles, three forced fumbles, and three interceptions. During his senior season, he was again named first team all conference and third team all American. He has the right size and build, as well as speed (4.51 40 yd), to be a very effective CB at the pro level, particularly if he can find a way to increase his aggressiveness with receivers. Brown crushed the combine, and has seen his stock rise precipitously over the course of the last month or so, with whispers that he could go within the top 100 picks.

Strengths

  • Fast
  • Great athletic ability
  • Good hands, former WR
  • Strong instincts
  • Closing skills
  • Good size

Weaknesses

  • Needs more fire
  • Short arms
  • Lack of assertiveness
  • Not great in run support

Let’s see his work

How He Would Fit On The Redskins

The Redskins already have one wide receiver successfully turned cornerback on the team - Quinton Dunbar. Jordan Brown could be a soft-handed bookend to Dunbar who could eventually be groomed to replace the overpriced and underwhelming Josh Norman in the Redskins’ secondary. Initial reports indicate that Brown has the capability to start as a slot nickel corner, with a strength in zone coverage. The fly in that ointment is that with his stellar combine performance, most NFL scouts are now awake to Brown’s “sleeper” status.
