Trading down…
It’s the hip thing to do. It’s what so many Arizona Cardinals fans and pundits want to see the team do with the first overall pick because it would allow them to address the bevy of needs the team still has.
While I don’t subscribe to that thought, I do understand that is a possibility.
If the Cardinals were to trade down and miss out on Nick Bosa and Quinnen Williams, who are some names to know?
That’s the next group of players we’ll be going through here.
The guys in the 4-6 range who could be in the play if the Arizona Cardinals move down.
Josh Allen, LB, Kentucky - Allen is one of the most productive college pass rushers in the nation.
Allen grew in each of his years at Kentucky and offers a balance of size and speed that has NFL teams licking their chops.
Allen is an explosive pass rusher who can run the edge and has enough hand usage right now to be effective coming off the side.

That’s what Allen does, turn the corner with ease.

Allen is also a deft linebacker in coverage as well, which is what has so many so high on him as a prospect.
One of my favorite plays of the college football season:

The reason Allen is not getting billing as a top pick, why he is still mentioned outside of the top two, is because there are some deficiencies.
Not that Allen won’t be a good player, the question becomes if he is an edge rusher or more of an Anthony Barr type off ball linebacker.
Again, not that that would be a bad thing, but it would be a slight downturn in value if you are drafting that at one or two.
Allen would be a nice fit in Arizona because he could learn behind someone like Terrell Suggs and Chandler Jones the best way to play on the edge, but could also give them some insurance if the Haason Reddick experiment does not work out.
