“Last year we tinkered around with two different two tight end sets, actually we had three. We had [Jeremy] Sprinkle and Vernon, Sprinkle and Jordan, and Vernon and Jordan. It’s kind of a pain in the neck when you have all these plays,” Gruden said. ”If you’re going to feature the running game it’s probably going to be Sprinkle more so, then Jordan and Vernon are standing next to you and you’re like ‘hey, how you doing? With the franchise still unsettled at QB, Washington used a first-round pick on Haskins, who obliterated Ohio State’s single-season marks for passing yards and touchdown passes. I get that there are questions about him, partly because he started only one season for the Buckeyes, but he’s a sharp, true pocket passer. And I almost forgot: Haskins has a boulder-sized chip on his shoulder after falling to No. 15. For Washington, this could work out spectacularly.

As the season wears on I see Guice taking a larger and larger role, including perhaps some of the 3rd down work as well. Guice should play a fairly decent role on the Redskins this year, but it’s probably a year away from him being a focal point of the offense. Long term though that is still very much a possibility.
