In the lead up to the NFL Draft, many analysts put together a big board. This their ranking of the prospects. Over the next few days, I want to take a look at various big boards and compare them to the slots in the NFL Draft where the Jets made their picks.
Today we continue by looking at the big board of The Draft Network.
As a reminder, none of these will definitely prove the Jets or an analyst are right or wrong. By doing a number of these, we will be able to see whether a consensus believes the Jets got good value from their picks.
Quinnen Williams (Jets pick: 3; The Draft Network’s rank: 1) +2 value
I honestly would be surprised if Williams was viewed as negative value against anybody’s big board.
Jachai Polite (Jets pick: 68; The Draft Network’s rank: 43) +25 value
The process concerns seemed to knock Polite out of first round value for The Draft Network, but he only fell to second round value. The Jets picked him in the third round.
Chuma Edoga (Jets pick: 92; The Draft Network’s rank: 120) -28 value
This is the first time we have seen Edoga rated as a negative value pick in our examination of the big boards.
Trevon Wesco (Jets pick: 121; The Draft Network’s rank: 171) -50 value
Wesco goes around a round and a half too early for this big board.
Blake Cashman (Jets pick: 157; The Draft Network’s rank: 59) +98 value
If you buy into this ranking, you have to be excited with what the Jets did. Not only did they get the best talent in the Draft. They got three of the top sixty players despite owning only one pick in the first two rounds.
Blessaun Austin (Jets pick: 196; The Draft Network’s rank: NR) -104(+) value
They stopped ranking at 300, and Austin missed the cut.
