After going through the entire 2019 draft without addressing the hole at guard, the Raiders could be looking to fill the spot with a seasoned, albeit somewhat controversial free agent guard. Monday the team is working out former Dolphins and Bills guard Richie Incognito, according to ESPN’s Mike Garafolo.
Here’s an interesting one. The #Raiders are working out free agent G Richie Incognito today, sources say. Incognito didn’t play last season after he retired, un-retired and then was cut by the #Bills. But word is he’s in shape and feeling well in all aspects. Wants to play again.

Gruden hinted the team would be looking to add another guard from the outside when he was asked about the position last Friday.
“Yes, Gabe [Jackson] will stay on the right, and the door is wide open at left guard. We are going to continue to look at players that can come in and compete at that position,” said Gruden.
This is definitely an outside guard, though there’s certainly good reasons why Incognito is available.
You might remember Incognito missing the entire 2014 season after an incident in Miami in which he was accused of harassing and making racial slurs to teammate Johnathan Martin. He returned the following season, signed by Rex Ryan to join Miami’s rival Bills and starting 48 straight games in three seasons at left guard.
The 35-year-old Incognito had made three-straight Pro Bowls with the Bills from 2015-17. He announced a year ago that he was retiring from football. Then a month later changed his mind but the Bills had moved on and cut him.
The guard known for his dirty play hasn’t exactly been...Incognito since he was released last year.
Not two weeks following his release from the Bills, Incognito was placed on an “involuntary psychiatric hold” for an incident at a Life Time Fitness health club in Boca Raton, Florida. Incognito in which he allegedly threw a tennis ball and a dumbbell at another gym patron. He was reported to be in an “altered, paranoid state,” suspecting that he was being spied on.
He was said to be working to be getting back in the NFL and last August tweeted out that the Vikings and Seahawks were interested in him. Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer was asked about it and Zimmer responded with, “No interest, and totally false. Tweet that.” Incognito responded on Twitter calling Zimmer a “fucking liar”. He later deleted the tweets and apologized for the outburst.
Two week after that tweet storm, Incognito was arrested for threatening to shoot the employees at a funeral home while making funeral arrangements for his father. Police seized two Glocks, three rifles, and a suppressor for a handgun in Incognito’s truck. Employees told Scottsdale police that Incognito wanted his father’s head cut off for research purposes, and that he had walked through the funeral home punching caskets and throwing objects. Incognito was charged with disorderly conduct and making threats.
Character for days, this guy.
