The Seattle Seahawks have been on the hunt for edge rush since the end of the season, and that hunt only intensified last week after the team traded Frank Clark to the Kansas City Chiefs. Having already hosted former Detroit Lion Ziggy Ansah to discuss the opportunities for him with the Seahawks, the team is now hosting another first round pick.
The #Seahawks will host free-agent LB Shane Ray on a visit tomorrow, source says. The former #Broncos first-rounder will be in the building following Ziggy Ansah’s visit earlier this week. Seattle clearly looking to add an edge rusher.

After being picked 23rd overall in the 2015 draft, Ray became a role player on the 2015 Denver Broncos team that upset the 15-1 Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50. He totaled 12 sacks in his first two seasons in the league, but injuries limited him to only nineteen games and seven starts in 2017 and 2018, recording just a single sack in each season.
He remains young, as he will not turn 26 until later this month, but at this point there is no lack of question about his ability to stay healthy in the NFL. In any case, this could represent an opportunity for the Seahawks to sign Ray to a small contract, that provides upside for both the team and Ray.
In any case, Ray is another name to add to the list of potential edge rush options for the Seahawks, and now it’s a matter of figuring out what mixture is most attractive to the team.
