The Titans will not pick up Jack Conklin’s 5th year option according to multiple reports on Twitter (Pro Football Talk had it first). On the surface this seems shocking, but it really shouldn’t. Conklin just hasn’t played at the same level that he did he rookie year when he was voted All-Pro- even before the ACL injury. The 5th year option would have paid Conklin almost $13 million guaranteed in 2020.
This means that Conklin will be set to become a free agent after the 2019 season. Of course that doesn’t have to be what ends up happening. He could have a really good year in 2019 and the Titans could sign him to a long-term deal.
Now, where are all of you who said I was ridiculous when I wrote this post back in Feburary suggesting that this might be the decision that was made?? Specifically you, Illwillz619, who called my article click bait and then couldn’t handle it when I made a silly response to your comment.
Did the Titans make the right decision?
