Philadelphia Eagles 2019 NFL Draft Mulligan - The Draft Network
Clayton Thorson had his fans in the NFL, as is often the case with these unexciting QBs -- but on film, I don’t see much from a physical tools or accuracy perspective to get me excited, even as a backup. Thorson will likely be the QB2 in 2020 -- that’s clearly the plan -- but I think they could have addressed more pressing positions of need. Take SAF3. Right now, the Eagles have Andrew Sendejo on a 1-year veteran deal -- behind him are waiver wire addition Godwin Igwebuike, ex-practice squader Tre Sullivan, and trade acquisition Deiondre’ Hall. These aren’t thrilling options. Obviously, for as long as the Eagles have Sendejo as their primary backup for 2019, they’ll be A-OK -- assuming Rodney McLeod stays healthy following his return from season-ending injury, and Malcolm Jenkins remains an ironman. But Sendejo likely won’t be around in 2020, and while Philadelphia is certainly hoping one of their current young guys develops into a backup-caliber player, they don’t seem to have much of plan beyond that.

9. Carson Wentz - Philadelphia Eagles. This felt like the right place to put Wentz. Even in a year in which he was coming back from a terrible knee injury and suffered a back fracture midway through the season, Wentz still finished with the 7th best QB Rating (102.2), was 9th in yards per game (279.5), 3rd in completion percentage (69.6%), and 9th in AY/A (7.93). PFF graded Wentz as the 13th best QB in football last year, one spot ahead of Kirk Cousins and one spot below Andy Dalton, thanks to lackluster big-time throw percentage and turnover-worthy throw percentage numbers. But it’s fair to think he’ll be a top-10 guy in 2019 if he’s fully healthy, which is certainly a fair concern.

In 2018, Sanders allowed seven total pressures across his 90 snaps in pass protection, ranking tied for 77th in pass-blocking efficiency (96.1) and tied for 91st in pressure percentage allowed (7.8%). He also fumbled the ball five times across his 220 carries, earning the fifth-highest fumble percentage (2.3%) among FBS backs with 150 or more carries. Sanders has made it his priority to improve in both areas of the game through film study and on-field drills, knowing such improvement is necessary at the next level. His commitment to improving comes from his experience competing with and learning from another great Penn State running back.

Give us a Round 2-7 pick who has some value in fantasy this season — Field Yates, NFL analyst: Miles Sanders, RB, Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles traded for Jordan Howard this offseason, but the second-round investment in Sanders was far more significant. He’s a capable receiver, which lends itself to him staying on the field in a variety of situations. The Philly backfield is crowded, but Sanders has a chance to emerge as the most valuable piece of it.

So much so that when he ran an official 4.33 in the 40-yard dash at the Penn State pro day, Thompkins was actually disappointed. Leading up to the pro day, he claims he had been clocked in the 4.2s. Off-season Grade: B-. The Redskins, overall, addressed all but one position group that needed addressing. The quarterback acquisitions were outstanding and include a plan for the future with Dwayne Haskins. The IOL has increased depth and competent candidates who are, at the moment, unproven, but seemingly serviceable. This is the same for the receiver acquisitions. With the uncertainty of maybe not having a number one receiver on the roster, someone will need to step up in that position group. Lastly, the running back position is solidified for the 2019 season, but groundwork has also been laid for the future that will be obvious when Love is ready to take the field. The Redskins did good things in the offseason, but not great.

So looking forward to Game 7... what do the Sixers need to do to win? Smile! (And out-shoot, out-rebound, win 50/50 balls, move the ball, defend their asses off, stay composed, and more, but smiling is fun too!) We have seen what happens when the Sixers started playing like the Sexers (their alter ego when they play sexy basketball). Joel effortlessly finds his spots and gets in position on both ends, Ben grabs rebounds and pushes the ball upcourt, Jimmy is sprays straight serotonin all over the crowd, Mike Scott screams hype talk at himself and those in the general vicinity, JJ Redick does his finger guns, and the overall play is simply... fun. So who are the Sixers? I guess we’ll find out if they’re going to be the fun team we’ve seen them flirt to be.
