Twitter is a compendium of information for almost any topic and the sports world is one of those areas that significantly feels its reach.
Obviously, with such a heavy amount of material and a wild variety of contributing minds, there is the digestible and the outrageous.
This allows Twitter to be an interesting resource on a topic of interest, and today that inquiry comes in the form of Parris Campbell.
What are people on Twitter saying about the newly minted Indianapolis Colts wide receiver?
Let’s take a look:
First let’s see what everybody’s favorite website has to say about the pick

- 86.0 overall grade in 2018 (5th of 149 qualifying draft-eligible WRs)
- Only 21 of his 111 targets came 10+ yards downfield
- His 849 rec yds and 791 yds after the catch on receptions less than 10 yards downfield were the MOST of any FBS WR pic.twitter.com/JQWXCYjpha
Fantasy nerds (an endearing term in my eyes) should take notice

The numbers back up the run-after-catch ability Campbell shows on film
Technically considered a pass, Parris Campbell took 15 jet sweeps this past season for 162 yards and 4 total touchdowns. When targeted on such routes, Campbell generated a stellar passer rating of 151.3 https://t.co/pr3cCMSLO6

Campbell will, presumably, be allowed to showcase his deep talents much more in a Colts jersey
Parris Campbell has some of the best deep speed in this class but we barely got to see it
— Mike Renner (@PFF_Mike) February 28, 2019
88.3% of routes from slot
81.1% of targets w/in 10 yards of LOS
It’s not all good news, as this may be an area to monitor, though it’s coming from one individual in this case
The number of these plays where Campbell has zero interest in the passing play is amazing.

It's like when he's not specifically designated as the guy catching the ball he just goes through the motions.
How about we see some of that speed in action? By the way, make sure you check out Zach Hicks’ film breakdown on Campbell, if you haven’t already
New Colts’ Wide Receiver Parris Campbell is going to be so much fun this year. Elite run after catch ability combined with great strength and speed.

So, he can run past 5 yards!?
When Parris Campbell goes deep, he's hard to keep up with. Unfortunately, accuracy from the QB was hit-and-miss on those opportunities further down the field. That won't be a problem with Andrew Luck. #Colts pic.twitter.com/EwslCClGDa

Campbell isn’t just fast, but fits the scheme in Indianapolis as well
Colts love them some MESH. Guess what was Parris Campbell's most productive route? pic.twitter.com/LSOlazierL

It’s not just the numbers and tape that back-up the speed claim that Campbell has, but the off-field workouts as well? Wow.
This will surprise everyone: WR Parris Campbell is a 99.3 percentile athlete at WR. This is going to be hella fun. #Colts

Percy Harvin comparisons aren’t too shabby
To be honest, I don't see much of the Phillip Dorsett comparison to Parris Campbell (other than they're both blazing fast).
— Luke Schultheis (@LuckAtLuke) May 3, 2019
He's much more of a Percy Harvin clone.
It’ll be difficult for defenses to figure out how to best cover him
Campbell gets off so fast and will just destroy the cushion. He twitchy at the line so he probably won’t be hindered too much by press and if they miss, he gone. He’s going to be special. https://t.co/Czx7KoiWVD

Campbell is already saying, and doing, all the right things and allowing himself to learn from the successful receiver that’s been there for years

How’s Campbell doing with his first few practices in the blue and white? Seems like he’s off on the right foot

Parris Campbell has shown the full gamut today. Snatched a pass behind him on a cross, played outside receiver and showed unreal SPEED.
— Stephen Holder (@HolderStephen) May 3, 2019
I’m sold.
Great battle in 1 on 1s just now between Parris Campbell and Rock Ya-Sin. Campbell ran a great corner route and made an impressive break, but Ya-Sin was in his pocket, stride for stride. Forced an overthrow. Really good stuff.

And from the man himself

Conclusion
I understand that this seems like an optimistic overview of a prospect chosen in the 2nd round, and of course there is risk involved with any player coming into the pros.
However, Campbell showcases a lot of usable abilities at the next level, and he’s already started off his professional life on a strong note.
He is also in a situation where he will be allowed to succeed, as he’s joining a potent offense that desperately needs his baseline talents as a run after the catch connoisseur.
What will he actually become? We’ll just have to wait and see, until then, please light up the comments sections with your gripes and groans, and maybe the occasional complimentary thought, if there’s time for that sort of nonsense.
