Can Chiefs’ Sammy Watkins break out in Year 2 with Patrick Mahomes? | ESPN
Chemistry has improved between Sammy Watkins -- who signed a three-year, $48 million contract last offseason with the Chiefs -- and quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
State of the Franchise: Chargers enter 2019 as AFC West’s best | NFL
I consider the Chargers the top team in the AFC West right now. The Chiefs are exciting, thanks to Patrick Mahomes. But the Chargers are the best overall team. Their 2018 season ended a little earlier than you would have hoped (obviously). But the team (and coach Lynn) gained some valuable experience. This seems like it’s been a long and winding road for the Chargers. It’s like they are the NFL’s version of Ted Mosby. But this also feels like it should be the year when they finally put it all together. Maybe 2019 will be when they stop being the groomsman and actually become the groom.
Jordy Nelson still plans to retire but would consider joining the Chiefs | Kansas City Star
Last week, Nelson turned 34 and apparently isn’t 100 percent sure he’d like to hang up his cleats. Nelson, who was born in Manhattan, Kansas and graduated from Riley County High School, told radio station KMAN (1350 AM) that he could be tempted to join the Chiefs.

Through a month of off-season workouts, Eric Berry’s replacement is a big hit on the practice field.
Why Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is everywhere ... and what that says about him | Kansas City Star
Other than his otherworldly talents as a quarterback and all, not to mention his unfathomably poised ability to handle what comes with it, it all says his persona remains accessible and maybe he’s not so different than the rest of us.
Top NFL players by jersey number: Ranking 1-99 for the league’s 100th season | CBS Sports
15 | Patrick Mahomes
He’s going to single-handedly popularize this number. Only Bart Starr stands in his way as a true all-time threat.
55 | Frank Clark
If you’re looking for a number that rivals No. 12 (Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Andrew Luck, etc.), look no further than the double 5s. Clark gets the call here as a 25-year-old star off the edge, but holy smokes is there a plethora of defensive talent to choose from. Anthony Barr, Benardrick McKinney, Bradley Chubb, Brandon Graham, Dee Ford, Jerry Hughes, Leighton Vander Esch and Za’Darius Smith could all easily be argued as the best at this number. That’s almost enough to make a whole defense!
4 dream revenge scenarios that could happen in the 2019 NFL season | SB Nation
The Chiefs defeat the Patriots in Foxborough to advance to the Super Bowl
We all know how the AFC Championship Game ended this year. The Patriots shut down the Kansas City offense in the first half. The Chiefs scored 31 points in the second half. They intercepted Tom Brady to end the game, but wait, Dee Ford was offsides. New England got new life, tied the game, and won in overtime.
It just ripped the hearts out of Chiefs Kingdom. But this season, the Chiefs could get revenge.

89. Mecole Hardman, WR, KC
The Case For: We don’t know if the Chiefs are going to have Tyreek Hill or not, but if they don’t Hardman profiles as exactly the type of receiver who could fill Hill’s shoes. He’s very good around the line of scrimmage and has the speed to get behind the defense. Those two attributes are enough to succeed with Patrick Mahomes..

Kansas City Chiefs: The Uncertainty Surrounding Tyreek Hill
Top Young Solution: WR Mecole Hardman
The biggest problem the Kansas City Chiefs have right now is not knowing whether No. 1 receiver Tyreek Hill will be on the field for Week 1. The team indefinitely suspended Hill from team activities after audio was released of him and his fiancee, Crystal Espinal, discussing injuries to their son. Prosecutors have since reopened the child abuse case, and Hill potentially faces discipline from the NFL, though the league is waiting for the criminal investigation to conclude.

Tom Brady: Tight end has to be position of strength for us | NBC Sports Pro Football Talk
“That has to be a position of strength, even if it’s not one player, but multiple players doing different roles,” Brady said, via ESPN.com. “There were times in my career before that where we had similar approaches. No one is going to make any excuses for our offense. We’re going to do everything we can to be the best we can be, score every time we touch the ball. The tight end position is a big part of our offense and those guys are going to have to do a great job for us.”

Gruden on Trent Williams’ absence: ‘We need him back’ | NFL
“I really don’t have one,” Washington Redskinscoach Jay Gruden responded Wednesday when asked about the recent reports about his star left tackle. “Just trying to focus on the guys that are here right now. Trent knows how much we need him and want him back. That’s the only thing I can do from here. As far as what happened with him and the doctors, that’s between he and the doctors; hopefully, we can get that cleared up soon.”
Odell Beckham Jr. Ready to ‘Hang Banners’ with Browns, Talks Baker Mayfield | Bleacher Report

Eli Manning: I’m not going to stress about Daniel Jones | NBC Sports Pro Football Talk
“I don’t think you can stress that,” Manning said, via Bob Glauber of Newsday. “You got to go out there. I’m going to do my best every time I’m at practice and every time at the games and hope that’s enough for us to win the games. … I think it’s still kind of a situation where you have to have the same approach you’ve treated all the other years and just kind of hope for the best.”

Bold predictions for the Chiefs roster and depth chart
Every offseason, there are unexpected moves and impressive practice performances that shake up a team’s roster and depth chart. During these closed OTA practices, it’s tough for anyone outside of the organization to know who’s playing well and who’s not, so predictions are kind of pointless...
