Minnesota Vikings Foundation introduces new food truck initiative

The Vikings Table will benefit children in the Twin Cities

On Thursday, the Minnesota Vikings Foundation introduced a brand new initiative to benefit children across the Twin Cities.

The team rolled out the new “Vikings Table” food truck, which will deliver healthy meals to children across the Twin Cities area that are dealing with food insecurity. The initiative is co-sponsored by XCel Energy.

According to Craig Peters, who wrote the story for the Vikings’ official website:

It will raise funds by serving traditional food truck fare at Vikings home games, training camp and other special events, as well as multiple days per week, and 100 percent of the profits will be committed toward the distribution of free, healthy meals.

Vikings Table is a custom-made, 39-foot Winnebago (which was donated by the RV company) that also has an 80” screen that will be used to show videos to promote healthy eating and nutrition. The Minnesota Vikings Foundation will be working with local school districts and non-profit organizations to determine where resources would be best utilized.

There hasn’t been any immediate word on exactly what kind of fare the truck will be serving, but according to the story the food side of things is going to be handled by Tony and Haley Fritz. Their family has several food trucks around the Twin Cities area, most notably the O’Cheeze grilled cheese trucks.

Once again, we need to give it up for the Vikings for putting together yet another creative initiative to help deserving children and families in the Twin Cities area. If you’re going to Training Camp or to a Vikings’ game at U.S. Bank Stadium this season (or whenever it’s going to be traveling around the Twin Cities), be sure to check them out!
