Montrel Meander is the first player Joe Douglas has brought to the Jets. The team has claimed the conerback off waivers from the Oakland Raiders.

This is probably more of a player who will be competing for a roster spot in training camp than it is a starting caliber player who could help the team fill its need at the position.
Meander spent the majority of last season with the Browns, the team that signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2018. The 6’2”, 215-pounder was with Cleveland’s practice squad for the first 12 weeks of the year before he finished the season with the Raiders.
One might assume Gregg Williams had something to do with this waiver claim since Meander spent that time on the Browns practice squad under Williams last season.
While he might not be in the mix to start, there certainly will be an opportunity to make the team in a wide open roster competition at the position.
