“Ryan Finley looks bad.”
Typically, it’s unwise to put a lot of stock into what takes place in OTAs.
With contact being limited while players can’t use full pads, these offseason workouts are typically used to develop chemistry and keep players as sharp as possible for when training camps begin about a month after minicamps end.
However, it’s become difficult to not mention the struggles of backup quarterback Ryan Finley.
Ever since the fourth-round rookie has taken part in OTAs, it’s been a struggle more often than not.
Ryan Finley hasn’t impressed so far. Granted, it’s early and he’s getting third string snaps, but today overthrew his WR and was picked off on one play. Does make you wonder if they keep 3 QBs this year though if this is what training camp looks like

Driskel, Finley go 1 for 5 (screen only completion) in first round of 11. Rookie Jordan Brown with near pick PBU of Finley. Next snap a bad overthrow by Finley hits Brown right in hands for easy pick, but dropped.

Now, Paul Dehner of the Athletic has put out a scathing review of Finley’s performance as OTAs get set to wrap up next week with mandatory minicamp.
Ryan Finley looks bad. There’s just no way around it. Two ugly passes Tuesday that should have been intercepted by seventh-round pick CB Jordan Brown. It’s still early, but not so early that we can’t begin to wonder what the hell is going on.
To be fair to Finley, running with second and third-team players. It’s a lot different to throw passes to A.J. Green, Tyler Eifert and Tyler Boyd than it is throwing to the likes of Cody Core, Hunter Sharp, Kermit Whitfield, Mason Schreck and Jordan Franks.
Hopefully, Finley gets chances to run with the first-team offense in training camp so we can see what he’s made of when he has a good supporting cast around him.
