It is definitely the offseason! On Thursday, Mike Silver of the NFL Network talked about some issues in the Cleveland Browns locker room, due to how quarterback Baker Mayfield handled his questions during minicamp about running back Duke Johnson. All of Silver’s comments are in the clip below.

Silver notes that it is “striking” for a player to get involved in a teammate’s business in a non-supportive way. He says that multiple sources told him that “several veterans came up to Mayfield in the locker room to voice their displeasure” about his comments regarding Johnson. While Silver says that Mayfield “may not have agreed” with what the veterans said, their viewpoints have been heard.
Former NFL receiver and native Clevelander Cecil Shorts III weighed in with his viewpoint, expressing how he feels Mayfield made a “young guy mistake” with how he handled things. I wouldn’t be surprised if a few veterans talked to Mayfield about the comments, but I also don’t see it as being a confrontation, but rather a healthy, open-ended discussion.
No need to comment on another mans contract situation. Young guy mistake. Being a leader doesn’t mean commenting and giving opinions on everything people ask. Be supportive even if you disagree. But disagree behind the scenes man to man, face to face. https://t.co/9PPT7ptffQ

Mayfield is who he is. He is cut-and-dry with his comments, and I don’t expect that to change, nor will it be a problem...as long as he keeps up his winning ways in Cleveland.
