Broncos Orange Rush poised for monster season

Andrew Mason said that Von Miller and Bradley Chubb in Vic Fangio’s defense could produce 32 sacks this season.

Good morning, Broncos Country!

In the words of Andrew Mason, Von Miller is excited.

When the Denver Broncos reported for training camp on Wednesday, and before Mase joined Adam Malnati and me on the MHR Radio Podcast (ApplePodcasts, Spotify, and Stitcher), he saw Miller walking through the facility.

“Boy, he is excited,” Mase said. “I wasn’t feeling too pumped, and then I talked to Von, and that got me amped up a little bit. So he’s ready.”

Keep in mind, that was before Miller set foot on the field for training camp practice.

On the second day of camp, Miller was doing Miller things. On one team session he had what would have been back-to-back sacks and completely wrecked that series for the offense.

As I said on Twitter, that just adds to the intrigue of what he and Bradley Chubb can do in Vic Fangio’s defense. Speaking of which, back to Mase for a prediction on the Orange Rush that will get Broncos Country even more excited. And if you haven’t gotten it yet, it’s another reason to get both this awesome Orange Rush shirt and Orange Rush hoodie from our partners at BreakingT. It was a total coincidence that Adam and I were both wearing our Orange Rush shirts for this podcast.

“Thirty-two sacks combined,” Mase said. “That’s possible. Am I overstating it? Probably, but I think there will be some games, if the Broncos get in front, the two of them will really have an opportunity to feast. There maybe games where they combine for four sacks. Games where they don’t have any. But I think in the end, I wouldn’t be surprised to see, not only 32 sacks, but see it fairly balanced. I don’t see that coming with say 22 and 10. I think it’s close to 18 and 14. And I don’t know who is going to get the 18 and who is getting 14. It could be Chubb.

“I don’t want to put too much on it because it was just OTAs and minicamp, and the edge rushers have an advantage there, but Chubb looked like he had added a few moves from last year. He was going inside. He was going outside. He had a little bit more bend than he did last year. He looks like he has taken another step forward. I think Chubb will have the type of year where we say if we did the Top 100 Broncos next year, he’d be on it.”

Now you can see why Mase thinks Miller is excited.
