Good morning, New York Giants fans!
When Phil Simms says Giants will replace Eli Manning with Daniel Jones | nj.com
Simms’ view seems to coincide with the one yours truly has consistently expressed:
“I really think it’s set up for Eli to have a good year,” Simms told MSG 150. “If the chance comes up that maybe it’s not going well, they lose games, then Daniel Jones. If they think they can give him a shot somewhere during the year, they’ll take it. But only if the Giants think they are out of the race.” ...
“I really believe that Eli Manning, with his position and his knowledge, they’ve put a really good team around him on the offensive side,” Simms said. “I think he has a chance to have maybe one of the best years of his career statistically.”
Giants need Saquon Barkley to be the anti-Odell Beckham | New York Post
Steve Serby summarizes the difference between Barkley and Beckham:
Barkley’s charisma, polish, professionalism and otherworldly gifts will make his transition from rookie to vocal leader a seamless one, and he embraces the role. Beckham, by his own admission, was no natural-born leader and struggled trying to be one, as much as the Giants wished he would grow into one.
As popular as Beckham was with teammates, he had a knack for saying or doing the wrong thing, and John Mara reluctantly signed off on an awful trade that cast Beckham in an addition-by-subtraction light. Barkley has a knack for saying and doing the right thing, and is viewed as a distraction only by the opponent.
