All the drama surrounding Robbie Gould’s contract situation was finally put to rest. He signed a 4 year deal with the 49ers. That locks up a kicker that has been almost automatic since he joined the team a couple of years ago. The contract is reportedly a 2 year fully guaranteed deal worth $10.5 million with an option to be a 4 year deal at $15 million guaranteed. According to Gould, talks between his reps and the 49ers started again this past Sunday after stalling for months and they were able to hash out a deal shortly after.
The ongoing saga about Gould seemed to be heading towards him not partaking in training camp or preseason. The 49ers franchise tagged him early in the offseason, but he did not sign it. There were reports that he wanted to go back to the Chicago Bears because his family had stayed behind in Chicago. He did not show up for practices and there was a possibility he would not show up until the regular season started.
Now that Robbie is signed, all that is left is for the 49ers to need to sign their 1st two draft picks, Nick Bosa and Deebo Samuel. Both contracts are reportedly down to the language in the contracts. Once those contracts are done, the 49ers will be ready to go for training camp.
