Good morning, GGN! Rookies have reported to Jets training camp in Florham Park, and veterans will be reporting in the coming week. The long NFL off season is finally drawing to a close. Still a ways to go before any real NFL action is underway, but we’re getting close. In the meantime, the primary drama from Jets camp is the no show of prize rookie Quinnen Williams, who is still in the process of ironing out the details of his contract with the Jets. The Jets are optimistic this will be settled shortly, so it’s pretty much a non-story at this point, unless and until Williams begins to miss substantial time in training camp. Until the veterans report on July 24, not a whole lot of any on-field significance happens for the rookies. Mostly we’re talking about orientation, initial meetings, and life advice seminars and the like. While not without merit, these activities are not critical to Williams’ success on the field, and missing them will likely not have any significant or lasting impact on his tenure with the Jets.
