This probably isn’t something the Minnesota Vikings and their fans wanted to hear heading into the 2019 season. Coming off a highly disappointing 2018 campaign under then first-year starter Kirk Cousins, the Vikings are reeling. According to one unnamed NFL general manager, they’ll also head into the season with a quarterback that compares favorably to none other than Case Keenum. “The world is going to pick Kirk Cousins over Case Keenum, but both are system guys to me,” the GM said, via The Athletic’s Mike Sando. “I get concerned with him when it counts.” That’s a whole bunch of ouch right there. But is the unnamed executive wrong? We’re not too sure. Cousins’ numbers were just fine after Minnesota signed him to a fully guaranteed three-year contract valued at $84 million. He completed north of 70% of his passes for 4,298 yards with 30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Unfortunately, a lot of that was stat padding. He posted a 1-6 record against teams that finished over .500. That’s just not going to get it
