NFL and NFLPA leadership are meeting today in Chicago for their fourth formal bargaining session on a new CBA. It’s expected to be the first time they’ll address big issues, most notably revenue sharing. Meeting slated for three days, though it may end sooner. Lots of work to do.

This session will be a tone-setter. In addition to Roger Goodell and DeMaurice Smith, a number of owners will be on hand as well as most of the NFLPA executive committee, including Richard Sherman, Russell Okung and Adam Vinatieri among others. https://t.co/a5OCdFLT93

The NFL and NFLPA bargaining session, originally scheduled for 3 days, is already over. One source described it as “productive.” Now need time to review and regroup. Plan is to resume on July 29.

This cannot be correct!!
— Warren Sharp (@SharpFootball) July 17, 2019
Is this correct?
Out of the 52 players Bruce Allen drafted whose 4-year rookie deals expired...
► only 7 received another contract in DC
► only 1 received multiple contract in DC
(34 of the 52 are out of the NFL or FA)

I’ve followed @PFF for several years and find great validity in their grades. The thing to remember is that their grades are objectively based SOLELY on production and NOT on talent, potential or player reputation. It’s the only place for PRODUCTION ONLY analyses.

If your process churns out mostly controversial, surprising and counterintuitive results, you may be a visionary. But it's more likely that there's a major flaw in your process.

By skipping the off-season workout program/not meeting the contractually mandated minimum of 90%, 6 Redskins players had their 2019 salaries reduced by:
— Field Yates (@FieldYates) July 17, 2019
Josh Norman: $200k
Landon Collins: $175k
Trent Williams: $150k
Paul Richardson: $150k
Quinton Dunbar: $100k
Vernon Davis: $50k
There are a few teams that use workout based salary de-escalators instead of workout bonuses. (Redskins, Cowboys, and Texans spring to mind). In general its a pretty team friendly contract mechanism.

Rankings like this, where Saquon Barkley is only #Giants player listed, goes to show how largely devoid of top-end talent this roster is and how far from competing they are. https://t.co/lpz7C66BPw
The problem with the idea of Zeke Elliott's presence drawing defenders into the box is that there doesn't seem to be a correlation between a QB or RB's reputation and how defenses adjust their coverage. I dig into those numbers (and more) here. https://t.co/CjwGFOnNxi
