If you’ve got some money in your pocket, here are some bets you can get in on.

With training camps under-way across the league, let’s take a look at odds-makers views of the Vikings this season - and see how optimistic or pessimistic a picture they paint for the Vikings’ chances this season.

Team Odds

Here is a break-down of each team’s odds to win, from most to least likely, according to Bovada. For those of you not familiar with how to read fractional odds, you read them this way:

how much you get (if correct) / for amount you bet.

So, for example, if you bet $5 on the Vikings to win the NFC North division, and that came true, you’d win $12 with the current odds listed below.

The greater the multiple of the first number compared to the second, the less likely oddsmakers view it of actually happening.

NFC NORTH DIVISION

Bears: 8/5 | Packers: 39/20 | Vikings: 12/5 | Lions: 10/1

The Vikings are a close third favorite to win the NFC North at this point, but the odds between the Bears, Packers and Vikings are pretty similar, hovering around 2/1. The Lions aren’t getting much love.

The Vikings rank 7th here, with the Rams and Saints fairly clear favorites.

Vikings rank 13th in Super Bowl odds, down significantly from the 10/1 odds they had last year at this time, but also much better than the 40/1 odds they had in 2017, when they made it to the NFC Championship.

PLAYOFF ODDS

The Vikings have 23/20 odds to make the playoffs, vs. 20/29 odds they don’t, which makes them slightly more likely to not make the playoffs.

Most Receiving Touchdowns

Adam Thielen: 30/1 (tied for 13th most likely)

Stefon Diggs: 40/1 (20th most likely)

Most Receiving Yards

Adam Thielen 20/1 (tied for 9th most likely)

Stefon Diggs: 75/1 (tied for 18th most likely)

Most Rushing Touchdowns

Dalvin Cook: 45/1 (tied for 23rd)

Most Rushing Yards

Kirk Cousins: 80/1 (tied for 32nd most likely)

FIRST HEAD COACH TO LEAVE HIS POST

Mike Zimmer: 15/1 (tied for 5th most likely)

That last one I find perhaps the most surprising. Maybe the thought is that Zimmer is more at risk because of the Gary Kubiak hire, and/or after a disappointing season last year, a bad start could be his undoing.

Overall Impression

Odds-makers seem to have the Vikings pegged as a mid-tier team on the playoff bubble this season, more likely to miss than make the playoffs, and with neither team nor individual players particular favorites for honors this year.

Overall those are modest expectations for the Vikings, which historically the Vikings have tended to outperform, compared to years when they’ve been more of a favorite.
