“They’re cursed!”
If you’re like me then you’ve spent quite a lot of time analyzing the uniforms that football teams wear.
Uniforms are important. They have to look right. They have to fit the moment. They have to make sense in the weather, and they especially have to make sense with the opponent that the team is playing (in that the matchup has to look good). Thankfully for all of us the Dallas Cowboys boast one of the finer uniforms in professional sports.
Chances are when you turn your television on every Sunday you’ll see the traditional Cowboys white jersey with seafoam green pants and that glorious silver helmet on top. It’s iconic, but it’s something we’ll be seeing less than usual of this season for Dallas.
ESPN’s Todd Archer reported the uniforms that the Cowboys will be wearing this season, and for the first time in a long time they won’t be wearing the white tops for a majority of it all. The older fans here are likely about to scream, they’re wearing the navy jerseys... a lot.
2019 Dallas Cowboys Uniform Schedule
- Week 1 vs. New York Giants....................... White uniforms
- Week 2 at Washington Redskins................ Navy uniforms
- Week 3 vs. Miami Dolphins........................ Color Rush uniforms
- Week 4 at New Orleans Saints................... Navy uniforms
- Week 5 vs. Green Bay Packers................... White uniforms
- Week 6 at New York Jets............................ Navy uniforms
- Week 7 vs. Philadelphia Eagles.................. White uniforms
- Week 9 at New York Giants........................ Navy uniforms
- Week 10 vs. Minnesota Vikings.................. Navy uniforms (white pants)
- Week 11 at Detroit Lions.............................. Navy uniforms
- Week 12 at New England Patriots............... Color Rush uniforms
- Week 13 vs. Buffalo Bills.............................. White uniforms
- Week 14 at Chicago Bears........................... Navy uniforms
- Week 15 vs. Los Angeles Rams................... Navy uniforms (white pants)
- Week 16 at Philadelphia Eagles................... White uniforms
- Week 17 vs. Washington Redskins............... White uniforms
This is very different for the Dallas Cowboys, in fact it’s extremely different.
We’ve seen the Cowboys go seasons not even as much as five or six years ago where they wore their traditional white tops up to 14 times in a given season. That they are only going to do so six times does feel sort of strange.
How often are they wearing each combo? I’m glad you asked.
- White uniforms: six
- Navy uniforms: six
- Navy uniforms (white pants): two
- Color Rush uniforms: two
If you’re somehow unaware what the navy tops with white pants combination is it’s something that former Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant suggested to the team during the 2017 season. They debuted the overall package on the road against the Giants that season and wore it again there last season as well as at home against the Tennessee Titans.
The Cowboys are hopefully going to look very different this season on offense, but they’re definitely going to literally look very different in style, too. What do you make of this news? Are you fine with it, indifferent, or terrified of the infamous navy jersey curse?
