Cincinnati Bengals vs. Indianapolis Colts: NFL Preseason Week 4

Anything and everything pertaining to the Bengals’ preseason finale against the Colts.

The final stage of the offseason has arrived: the annual Colts exhibition game.

Separated by 112 miles via Interstate 74, the Cincinnati Bengals and Indianapolis Colts always conclude their preseason schedules by playing each other, due to the close proximity between the two teams. Last year, they faced off again 10 days later to kick off the regular season. This season, they will not see each other again, unless the postseason has different plans in store.

The postseason was far more likely when the Colts could count on Andrew Luck to lead them there. Sadly for them, that’s no longer the case. The four-time Pro Bowl quarterback retired at the age of 29 last week due to a multitude of injuries he’s suffered over the years and a lack of timely recovery from his latest ailment.

Any rational human being can hardly blame Luck for his decision, but for the Bengals’ case, it’s not like they were planning to face off against him in a Week 4 preseason matchup anyways. Now, they won’t even have to worry about his former backup Jacoby Brissett, whom has become Luck’s replacement.

The Bengals have plenty of their own to worry about, as the defense has a handful of ongoing position battles to resolve before they to trim the roster down to 53 players by Saturday afternoon. The offense will be looking at the wide receiver and tight end positions for final clarity. This game will go a long way in determining who avoids the cutting room floor.
