Los Angeles Chargers superstar safety has undergone successful surgery to repair the stress fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The procedure was performed by specialist Dr. Robert Anderson in Green Bay, and the the Bolts’ second-year safety will be placed on Injured Reserve when the season begins.
That James will miss time is not new news, but the fact that he will be placed on injured reserve gives us a clearer picture of the amount of time he will be sidelined. At this point, we are likely looking at an optimistic (but realistic) timetable of James returning in Week 13 following the bye week.
There is some positive takeaway in this story in that the procedure is being reported as a success, but that was always an extremely high probability. Once again, we are left simply waiting for time to pass so that we might find out how James’ recovery progresses. Hopefully, he will be back in time to make an impact on the Chargers’ playoff push.
