Falcons release S Jason Thompson

Yet another roster move.

It’s been announced that the Atlanta Falcons have released S Jason Thompson.

Jason Thompson signed with the Falcons in early June, after the Green Bay Packers released him in April. The 6’2 safety signed with the New England Patriots after going undrafted in 2017. He also spent time with the Chicago Bears, Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys prior to joining the Packers, and ultimately, the Falcons.

During the Falcons’ loss to the Denver Broncos, Jason Thompson played 21% of the defensive snaps and 34% of the special teams snaps and recorded one tackle.

If you’ve been following along today, this wasn’t the only move the team made. The Falcons hosted safety Dexter McCoil for a visit, signed safety Ronald Martin and cornerback Hamp Cheevers, while also releasing cornerback Rashard Causey and long snapper Kyle Vasey. The front office clearly didn’t like what they saw from the secondary on Thursday night, and wasted no time adjusting the roster.

With the moves made, there’s still an open spot on the roster, so stay tuned to The Falcoholic as another roster addition should be coming soon.
