Hopefully he lands on his feet elsewhere.
The Falcons have waived tackle Dieugot Joseph, per the team. They have yet to announce a corresponding move, which leaves the roster at 89 players.
Joseph got plenty of looks this summer—albeit less as the weeks wore on—but was firmly behind Ty Sambrailo and Matt Gono, the two chief competitors (and likely members of the 53 man roster) for reserve tackle roles with this team. Rookie Jaelin Robinson also got a lot more opportunities as time wore on, meaning Joseph was unlikely to make the final roster.
There was no word on his injury, but we’ll hope Joseph can land with another team and find a role. The team is likely to move forward with Jake Matthews, Kaleb McGary, Sambrailo, and Gono as their four tackles for the 2019 season, with Gono also dabbling at other positions along the offensive line as needed.
As for the guy coming in...we don’t know. It’s likely to be someone the Falcons would like a look at in their fourth preseason game, but at this point with roster cuts looming, it won’t be someone I’d expect to stick around.
We have waived Dieugot Joseph with an injury settlement. https://t.co/bYod4IZulq
