Minnesota Vikings at Buffalo Bills: ALL THE COVERAGE~!

The preseason ends on Thursday

In less than 24 hours, we’re going to be talking about everything we saw in the final preseason game for the Minnesota Vikings, as they travel to upstate New York to take on the Buffalo Bills. We’re not going to see the starters in this contest, but we are going to see a lot of guys that are fighting for spots at the bottom of the depth chart making their final cases. The roster cutdown to 53 is Saturday at 3:00 PM Central, so the players that will be playing are going to do everything they can to prove they belong with the big club or, at the very least, the practice squad.

So, how can you keep track of all the action?

Television Info

This game is going to be kicking off a little earlier because it’s happening out east, so kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 PM Central time. The flagship station for Vikings preseason football, KSTP-9 in the Twin Cities, will be carrying this one, as will the following local network affiliates:

  • KMSP (FOX/9 - Minneapolis, MN)
  • WDIO (ABC/10-13 - Duluth, MN)
  • KTTC (CW/10.2 - Rochester, MN)
  • KEYC (FOX/12.2 - Mankato, MN)
  • KVRR (FOX/15 - Fargo, ND)
  • KFYR (FOX/5.2 - Bismarck, ND)
  • KMOT (FOX/10.2 - Minot, ND)
  • KSFY (ABC/13 - Sioux Falls, SD)
  • KGAN (CBS/2 - Cedar Rapids, IA)
  • KCCI (MeTV/8.2 - Des Moines, IA)
  • KPTH (FOX/44 - Sioux City, IA)
  • KGCW (CW/23 - Quad Cities, IA)
  • WLAX (FOX/25 - La Crosse, WI)
  • WEUX (FOX/48 - Eau Claire, WI)
  • KETV (ABC/7 - Omaha, NE)

If you’re near one of the following cities, you’ll be able to catch the game with the Bills’ announcing team, which is the pairing of Andrew Catalon and Steve Tasker.

  • WKBW (ABC/7 - Buffalo, NY)
  • WROC (CBS/8 - Rochester, NY)
  • WSYR (ABC/9 - Syracuse, NY)
  • WPNY (My/11 - Utica, NY)
  • WETM (NBC/18 - Elmira, NY)
  • WXXA (FOX/23 - Albany, NY)
  • WWTI (ABC/50 - Watertown, NY)
  • WBGH (NBC/5 - Binghamton, NY)
  • WJET (ABC/24 - Erie, PA)

If you can’t see the live broadcast of this one, you’ll want to set your alarm clock or DVR so that you can catch the re-broadcast on the NFL Network at 3:00 AM Central on Friday.

Radio Info

If radio is your preferred medium, you can listen to the game via the Vikings Radio Network. Just click on the link there to find the affiliate in your area.

If you’re going to be using satellite radio. . .well, unfortunately, you’re out of luck, as it doesn’t appear that Sirius or XM is going to be carrying the Vikings’ feed for this one. You can find the Bills feed on Channel 83 on both Sirius and XM. Of course, if you’re using the SiriusXM app, the Vikings have a permanent home there on Channel 819.

Referee Info

Football Zebras informs us that the officiating crew for Thursday’s game in Buffalo will be headed up by Shawn Smith. Smith is in his second year as a head referee, and the Vikings saw him once last year, as his crew handled the Vikings’ 37-17 victory over the New York Jets.

Weather Info

This is the only Vikings’ preseason game that had the potential to be affected by weather, and it looks like the winds could be a bit of a factor. Weather Underground is showing temperatures at kickoff time in the low 70s, but the winds will be coming out of the southwest at between 15 and 20 miles/hour, so it’s going to be a little breezy in Orchard Park.

Streaming Info

It’s still “free trial” season for NFL Game Pass, so if you can’t view the game any other way, that’s always an option. You could also look into Fubo.tv.

As far as other streams are concerned, do NOT. . .and I mean not in any way, shape, or form. . .promote illegal streaming sites on The Daily Norseman. Not in the comments, not in the FanPosts, not in the FanShots, not in the Game Thread, not anywhere. Don’t even hint at them. Trust me on this. If you’re that determined to watch the game via an illegal stream, do a Google search and find it on your own. And feel free to not blame us for any ill effects your computer or device might suffer as a result.

That should be everything you need to know for Thursday night when the Vikings and the Bills close out the preseason at Ralph Wilson Stadium. We’ll have our Open Thread up and running before kickoff, and we hope that a lot of you will join us here for all the action!
