The hits keep coming to what has looked like a very impressive 2019 draft class for the Seattle Seahawks.
Seattle’s first pick - L.J. Collier. Currently struggling to recover from a training camp “rare sprain.”
Seattle’s second pick - Marquise Blair. Exited Sunday night’s game against the Minnesota Vikings with back spasms.
Seattle’s third pick - D.K. Metcalf. Held out from multiple practices, scrimmages, and both preseason games. Now we’re being told he’s going to have some work done on his knee in some type of minimal procedure.
Pete Carroll says DK Metcalf may be able to make a quick recovery from Tuesday knee surgery. There is an optimism he can be back for #Seahawks opener. https://t.co/szKLkSFCHj

Asked a follow-up on DK Metcalf, Pete Carroll said Week 1 is still a possibility, but they'll know more after his surgery this week. #Seahawks

Metcalf has been the unquestionable fan-favorite of the Pacific Northwest who has yet to actually do anything noteworthy in a competition against real NFL opponents, but that hasn’t stopped crowds from gulping in his every move. Rookie wide receivers generally struggle to gain traction against the lightning-fast corners and coverages they come up against, and Metcalf continues to push back his ability to see consistent reps.
D.K. will take a day off to return to Seattle with the team, and have his surgery on Tuesday.
Re: Metcalf's surgery -- sounds like that's happening Tuesday. Still some time to go until the regular season opener, but obviously not a great development for a Seattle team already missing its first-round pick L.J. Collier.

Regardless of any optimism whether it be from Pete Carroll or Seahawk reporters, it’s not going to help Metcalf’s ability to work on more complex routes, gain familiarity with his QB, and adjust to the speed of NFL play. On the brightside, it probably won’t do anything to his jersey sales.
One hopes that this is not going to be the impending future of a man with 1.9% body fat.
